Chris’ Classic ‘Enid’

4 berth Classic campervan, SCA roof, 4 belted seats

Chris approached us during 2020’s first lockdown.  Like many of us, she had a little time to explore her options and to re-evaluate what she wanted in life, and out of that came a campervan.  Which meant we got to work on one of our most uniquely beautiful conversions to date – let us introduce you to Enid!  Named after one of Chris’ favourite authors Enid Blyton, her van represents the closest thing to Enid’s magical world that Chris could get!

All Chris knew when she approached Cambee was that she wanted a warm, comfortable van to enjoy with her 17 year old daughter and new Sprocker puppy Nell.  A keen wild swimmer and incredibly active, Chris wanted to create a van that not only facilitated adventures near and far, but that also gave her daughter somewhere to chill whilst she was out and about getting her nature fix. Whilst scouring the internet for the perfect van, Chris stumbled across Cambee and was instantly drawn to the retro style and natural birch interiors.

‘I initially approached Cambee looking for a second hand van, without any real idea of what that might look like.  It was so refreshing having spoken to Matt and to be given a virtual tour of the workshop to realise that I could create something truly bespoke for the budget I had earmarked for the project’  – Chris

It was tough to source a second hand van this year, the lockdown drove up demand and prices as everyone wanted to explore van life.  Matt and the team hunted high and low to find a 2016 Euro 6 van from Ireland which had had just one previous owner and arranged for its journey to

the UK.  After giving it a good check over and a full service, Chris decided to go for the two tone paintwork – despite still not having nailed down the interior colours.

Continuing her hunt for decor inspiration, Chris consulted her friends at the Janner Joggers for ideas and created many mood boards to nail the interior.  Eventually she described the dream interior to Cambee’s Joe who knew just what to do.  Joe sourced and sent fabric samples to Chris encompassing the retro feel she loved and a bright cheery colour scheme. The rest of the fit out snowballed from there.

Chris was keen to have a puppy proof interior for Nell and to create a feminine feel in the van – what better than this gorgeous soft pink leather upholstery? Easy to clean and with heaps of personality, we couldn’t wait to get Enid fitted out.

Taking delivery of Enid in early October, Chris had big plans for road trips throughout the UK including Scotland, Pembrokeshire and the East Coast.  With much of this on hold at the moment, Chris has been enjoying more local adventures on Dartmoor and the North Devon Coast. Keeping her more adventurous plans for when the coast is clear.

‘I am so delighted with Enid and the service Matt and the team offered was second to none. I can’t wait to put her through her paces!’  – Chris
